AkPIRG Board Member Bios

 

Sharman Haley

Sharman is an associate professor of public policy at the Institute of Social and Economic Research, UAA. Her current research foci are state fiscal policy and sustainability of arctic communities. Sharman lived in Juneau 1976-1984, and in 1980 worked for AkPIRG on health finance legislation. Her interest in a state income tax campaign prompted her to join the AkPIRG board this year.


David Paperman

Originally from Northern New Jersey, David Paperman has lived in Alaska since 1991. He first came to Alaska to spend summers while studying at Indiana University and has lived in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Hoonah, and Denali Park. He holds a Bachelors degree in Public Affairs and a Masters in the
Administration of Recreation and Parks. He currently lives in Seward with his Wife Dana and 5 month old son Sam where Dave works as a Case Manager for adults with chronic mental illness. Dave has a background in Organizational Development and is most concerned with AKPIRG's continued solvency and focus on core programs. Dave's professional interests include community development, volunteer management, and grassroots organizing. His personal hobbies are hiking, sea-kayaking, spending time with Sam, and trying to finish renovating his house.
