Autumn Cantu

Autumn Cantu is a proud Koyukon Athabascan from Ruby, Alaska, whose work is grounded in a deep commitment to her culture, community, and the future of Alaska. Guided by her roots, she is dedicated to advancing meaningful, lasting change that uplifts Indigenous voices and strengthens communities across the state. Autumn holds a bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and is preparing to pursue her Master's in the same field. Her educational foundation informs her people-centered leadership style and commitment to equity, wellness, and systems-level impact.

She currently serves as Initiatives Director at the Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN), where she leads strategic efforts that support community development, cultural preservation, and Indigenous self-determination. Autumn brings extensive leadership experience, having previously served as an Executive Director and as the owner of Cantu Tactics & Consulting (CTC). Her professional background spans communications, outreach, direct services, partnership development, and strategic planning. Her past roles include work with Native Peoples Action, Native Movement (The MMIWG2S Alaska Working Group), The Mobilization Center, Tanana Chiefs Conference, and Recover Alaska, among others. Across these roles, Autumn has focused on building collaborative partnerships, advancing community wellness, and empowering future generations.

A strong advocate for Indigenous sovereignty, community healing, and the preservation of cultural identity, Autumn leads with integrity, courage, and accountability. She believes in doing what is right, even when it is difficult, and strives to inspire others to lead with honesty, empathy, and purpose. Outside of her professional work, Autumn enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and reading whenever she can.
