Announcement: AKPIRG selects Julia Hnilicka as next Executive Director
AKPIRG is excited to welcome Julia Hnilicka, our new Executive Director!
Raised in Nenana, Julia is the daughter of a tugboat captain and an educator. Her background instills a deep, lived understanding of the complexities of the issues facing all Alaskans. She brings a wealth of experience in high-paced, complex outreach and advocacy work - spanning the federal government, Tribal partnerships, and statewide coalitions. Most recently, she served as a presidential appointee, working for the Biden Administration as the Alaska State Director for USDA Rural Development.
"I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to step into leadership at AKPIRG. It is a passionate, community led organization, working for the betterment of all Alaskans. The values at AKPIRG align with my own, and I couldn't be more grateful for their trust in this awesome responsibility."
