American Community Survey (ACS) Resources in Alaska Native Languages
Alaska Native Language Panels convened in February 2024 to learn from community experts about the American Community Survey and to create messaging to educate their regions in their languages on what the survey is all about.
What is the American Community Survey?
The American Community Survey (ACS) is a nationwide survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau which provides current data about the people, housing, and economy of a particular area. When one person fills out the ACS it will benefit their entire community. This can help with the distribution of federal funding every year.
About the ACS Project
Alaska Native Language Panels convened in February 2024 to collaborate on materials about the American Community Survey in eight different Alaskan indigenous languages. Thanks to the hard work of our panelists, we’re excited to share two videos and eight poster designs about the ACS.
Videos
As part of the project, Alaska Native Language Panels created outreach materials in eight Indigenous languages to help communities share the importance of the American Community Survey in ways that resonate locally. The collection includes two videos and eight posters, each designed with and for the communities they serve.
On this page, you’ll find an image gallery of all eight posters, along with links to download print-ready versions. We encourage you to explore the gallery, download the materials, and share them with your family, friends, and neighbors. By sharing these materials you can help ensure that every community voice is heard.

“ACS is something I became passionate about over the course of this project. I learned that it helps communities in need of jobs, healthcare, development, and much more by simply filling out one survey for the whole community.”
